The Metabolism Clinic is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of metabolic diseases, with a special focus on obesity and diabetes, two closely related conditions with increasing prevalence in our society. The goal is to promote the body's balance, restore health, and improve quality of life in a sustainable and personalized way. Obesity and diabetes are complex, multifactorial, and often stigmatized diseases. They result from the interaction between genetic, hormonal, behavioral, and environmental factors, requiring an integrated and multidisciplinary approach. At the Metabolism Clinic, each patient is individually assessed and monitored by a specialized and multidisciplinary team, under the coordination of Dr. Marta Almeida Ferreira. This work allows for the development of personalized therapeutic plans, ranging from nutritional re-education (with nutritional support), the establishment of a physical activity program, behavioral intervention (with psychological support), to pharmacological therapy and referral for metabolic surgery when indicated and appropriate. Diabetes, in particular, requires continuous monitoring and rigorous control of glucose levels to prevent cardiovascular, renal, ophthalmological, and neurological complications. The Metabolism Clinic helps you take center stage in your own treatment, keeping the disease under control and thus maintaining your quality of life. Therapeutic education is also one of our priorities. We believe that understanding the disease is the first step to controlling it. Therefore, we dedicate time to teaching each patient how to interpret their results, adjust their diet, advise on appropriate physical activity, and cope with the emotional challenges associated with the treatment of these chronic diseases. More than treating, we want to transform people's relationship with their bodies, with food, and with health. Our purpose is to promote lasting lifestyle changes, supported by science and sustained by the continuous monitoring of the clinical team. Here, each patient finds a space of trust, respect, and motivation, where science is combined with empathy to achieve real results. At the Metabolism Clinic, we take care of metabolism — but above all, we take care of people, helping them regain the balance, energy, and quality of life they deserve.
